S Korea reels from its worst air accident Listen
South Korea has been sent reeling after the loss of 179 people after a plane crash-landed and burst into flames. The passenger plane belonging to Jeju Air skidded off a runway after its front landing gear apparently failed to deploy. It slammed into a concrete fence before bursting into flames. Emergency workers pulled two people, both crew members, to safety. The passengers were predominantly South Korean, as well as two Thai nationals. Jamie Clarke has more.
'Bird strike possible cause of plane crash' Listen
South Korean officials earlier said that the fatal Jeju Air crash was likely to do with a bird strike and bad weather. An aircraft engineer who spoke to RTHK said pilots are well trained to minimise the risk of bird strikes by, for example, decreasing the speed of the plane or steering clear of areas where birds frequent. Warren Chim, deputy chairman for the Aircraft Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineering, also told Hailey Yip that aircrafts undergo strict compliance and safety protocols at every stage.
Govt concerned over Yau Ma Tei construction site accident Listen
The Labour Department says it's deeply concerned about a fatal accident at a construction site in Yau Ma Tei, in which a 53-year-old worker was killed on Saturday. The department said it is conducting a probe and will take enforcement actions if it finds any violations. Sophie Hui reports.

Russia unintentionally shot down airliner: Azerbaijan president Listen
The president of Azerbaijan has said that one of the country’s airliners that crashed last week was shot down by Russia, albeit unintentionally. He’s criticised Moscow for trying to “hush up” the issue for days. The Azerbaijani airliner crashed last Wednesday, in Kazakhstan, killing thirty-eight of the sixty-seven people on board. The Kremlin has said that air defence systems were firing near where the plane had attempted to land, in order to deflect a Ukrainian drone strike. Jamie Clarke has more.
