Hong Kong rower Chiu Hin-chun on Saturday narrowly missed out on qualifying for the next round at the Paris Olympics, but moves on to the repechage for another chance.
The two-time Olympian finished second-last in his men's single sculls heat, clocking a time of 7:00.29.
Chiu said he was satisfied with his performance, which he described as "above-average".
"Finishing in seven minutes is a rather good time. I had the fastest time [going into the repechage] out of all six heats, so I hope I could perform like this again in the repechage," he said.
"But it's a pity that I was so close yet so far, and missed the quarter-finals by one spot."
Chiu, who is the first SAR athlete to compete in the Paris Games, will next compete in Sunday's repechage.
