All seven incumbent Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) lawmakers will seek re-election in December's Legislative Council polls, with the group putting up 16 candidates in total.

Five of the incumbents, federation president Stanley Ng, Kwok Wai-keung, Bill Tang, Michael Luk and Joephy Chan, hope to stand in the geographical constituencies.

Four district councillors will also attempt to get into the legislature through the directly elected polls, meaning all constituencies except for Kowloon West could have an FTU candidate.

The federation is also hoping to field three candidates for labour sector seats, with four others, including chairman and incumbent lawmaker Kingsley Wong, seeking to run in the Election Committee race.

"We think being able to run, having the opportunity to run is something we very much cherish," he told a press conference to announce the line-up.

"We also cannot be more proud. This is a major mission, and we'll surely do our best to win."

A two-week nomination period for the polls begins on Friday.
