The Business and Professionals Alliance (BPA) on Monday said it plans to field 14 candidates in December’s Legislative Council elections.
Only four of the party's nine incumbents are running again, including rural leader Kenneth Lau, Sunny Tan of the textiles and garment sector and industrial representative Jimmy Ng.
The party is seeking to retain seats in the real estate and engineering sectors by fielding Howard Chao and Aaron Bok, a former head of the Civil Engineering and Development Department, respectively.
It's sending two party members, Ray Wong and Terrence Hui, to contest the industrial (first) seat vacated by outgoing Legco President Andrew Leung.
Jonathan Lamport will seek to retain the party's commercial (first) seat, after long-serving member Jeffrey Lam decided not to run.
There are no other contestants so far in these functional constituencies.
The alliance is also sending four district councillors to run in geographical constituencies, and two members to contest through the Election Committee sector.
However, incumbent Benson Luk, representing the Election Committee, announced he’s not standing.
Including Leung and Lam, four other party members said earlier they'll not seek re-election.
Real estate representative Louis Loong and engineering sector’s Lo Wai-kwok were the other two departing councillors.
