Three Legco polling stations in Tai Po affected by the Wang Fuk Court inferno will be relocated.
Officials said affected voters will be offered free transportation for them to cast their ballot on Sunday.
“Due to the impact of the Tai Po fire, the Registration and Electoral Office will make new arrangements for three polling stations in the district,” Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang told a media briefing.
“They include Tai Po Baptist Public School, Kwong Fuk Community Hall and Tai Po Community Centre.
“They will be changed to Hong Kong Teachers' Association Lee Heng Kwei Secondary School, Sung Tak Wong Kin Sheung Memorial School and Law Ting Pong Secondary School."
He said free shuttle buses will be made available to carry affected voters from Wang Fuk Court, Kwong Fuk Estate, Tai Po Kau and Tai Po Market to the new locations.
As for Wang Fuk Court residents who were rehoused to other districts, Tsang said they will be notified of the changes by the dedicated social worker and be offered suitable transportation for them to vote.
Speaking in the same briefing, Chief Secretary Eric Chan said eight functional constituency election forums suspended earlier will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, with four on each day.
He also said a fun day event and a variety show scheduled for the eve of the elections have been cancelled, but that certain government facilities, such as swimming pools and museums, will remain free to the public this weekend as incentives for people to vote.
