The DAB emerged as the big winner from the Legco elections with 20 seats — one more than last term.
It secured one seat in each of the 10 geographical constituencies, two seats in the functional constituencies, and eight in the Election Committee constituency.
However, its total votes fell by over a third, from about 680,000 to around 430,000.
The Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong remained the second-largest party in Legco.
Although it lost all contests in the geographical constituencies, it won a total of eight seats across the functional constituencies and the Election Committee constituency — one fewer than last term.
The Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) kept seven seats.
Despite taking only three geographical seats, its total votes rose by more than a third, from about 190,000 to 260,000.
The Liberal Party maintained four seats, three in functional constituencies and one via the Election Committee,
However, the New People’s Party’s representation halved, dropping from six seats to three.
Four incumbents lost their seats.
They are DAB’s Edmund Wong and Frankie Ngan, and the FTU’s Kwok Wai-keung and Michael Luk.
Professional Power’s Christine Fong topped the geographical constituencies with 58,828 votes and, on her sixth attempt, finally entered Legco as the representative for New Territories South East.
Overall, the new Legislative Council includes 40 newcomers among its 90 members.
