Accounting firm, PwC, has submitted a range of recommendations to the government for the city's first five-year plan as well as the 2026 Policy Address.
The submission aims to set out a strategic roadmap to enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness for sustainable growth, while supporting its integration into the overall national development.
The firm's recommendations are organised around three strategic themes: building Hong Kong's innovation system, leveraging Hong Kong's financial strengths for the new economy, and positioning the city for regional collaboration and global partnerships.
According to the firm, Hong Kong is positioned to leverage its strengths of having access to the mainland's financial and technological resources as well as maintaining its strong connections to global economies.
Rebecca Wong, South Markets Leader, Chinese Mainland of PwC China said, "Hong Kong is located in the centre of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and we have a very strong supply chain, including educational resources and also R&D foundation."
"So what Hong Kong needs to do is to work with the mainland cities in the GBA to set some new standards so that we can enable mainland companies to go global faster, and also attract more international companies, especially from the Belt and Road countries to Hong Kong and the mainland cities," she added.
