IT Secretary Sun Dong has said the government aims to turn Hong Kong into a regional AI powerhouse in the Asia‑Pacific.
In an interview with RTHK's "Vision 15: Hong Kong's Chapter", Sun said the SAR government will respond to the country's call to advance AI development, with a focus on building Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology centre.
This "means developing the mid‑stream and downstream industries, working together to create a thriving innovation ecosystem in the Greater Bay Area. We hope to turn Hong Kong into an international artificial intelligence hub for the Asia‑Pacific region".
He said Hong Kong will provide high‑end computing services to neighbouring regions, strengthening its role as a super‑connector and value‑adder, and becoming a hub for international exchange – bringing together talent, capital and technology from around the world.
