An injury has forced Hong Kong, China mixed doubles pair Jordan Tang and Tse Ying-suet to withdraw from next week's 2026 BWF World Championships in India and what would have been their third Asian Games next month.

This came as Tang’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was almost completely torn during practice.

Writing on social media on Saturday, Tang said he hopes to continue playing badminton following his recovery, and has no plans to retire because of the injury.

Tang indicated that the duo’s next competition could mark the start of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualification period.

He shared plans to prioritise his recovery, ensuring proper rest and treatment following his surgery.

Tang acknowledging that, while the hiatus will be somewhat prolonged, he's determined to return and continue pursuing unfinished goals.
