Hong Kong, China wushu star Lydia Sham on Monday claimed the city's first gold medal at the Asian Games in Japan, winning the women's changquan final at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall in style.

The SAR athlete saw the top of the podium after finishing with 9.713 points, holding off a spirited challenge from Macao China's Sou Cho-man, who tallied a score of 9.710.

Indonesia's Eugenia Widodo earned bronze to round out the podium with a score of 9.706.

Fellow Hong Kong athlete Michelle Yeung missed out on a podium finish, placing fifth after putting up a score of 9.703 alongside Zahra Kiani of Iran.

The Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya run until October 4.
