Hong Kong, China's Chloe Leung on Tuesday added a road cycling bronze to the SAR's medal tally at the Asian Games in Japan, finding the podium after a tense sprint finish in Shinshiro.

Starting third in a pack of 40 riders, Leung put on a strategic performance along the 91km course. She briefly dropped to 12th at the halfway mark before rising to third after three laps and maintaining her position to the end.

She finished with a time of two hours, 50 minutes and 46 seconds, 41 seconds behind Guo Li and Fariba Hashimi. The duo raced until the very end, with Guo, a Sichuan native, pipping her Afghan opponent in a photo finish to snatch gold.

Fellow Hong Kong cyclist Guardiola Cheung, who started the race in first, came back 31st after crossing the line in just over three hours.

Another SAR cyclist, Kwan Tsz-kwan, came back 25th after starting second.
