The director-general of the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (Oases) has said the SAR can act as a “super-adapter” for companies setting up shop in the city.

In an interview with RTHK’s “Vision 15: Hong Kong’s Chapter”, Peter Yan said that Oases will adjust its strategies in luring foreign firms to Hong Kong in accordance with the country's 15th Five-Year Plan as well as the city’s inaugural blueprint.

As a base for development, he said the SAR is uniquely positioned to allow firms to manage production on the mainland, while coordinating production and market development with other places.

“Under One Country, Two Systems, we are in fact the only place in the world that is backed by the nation’s massive productivity and market – all our external systems, modes of operations and standards can be integrated," he said.

"This is in fact a very unique position.”

Yan added that as the Greater Bay Area development matures and the government works to expedite the Northern Metropolis development, he believes Hong Kong's appeal to foreign companies will continue to grow.
