OpenAI saga, Artificial General Intelligence, and Bard AI's new ability to "watch" YouTube videos
While the OpenAI drama is over (or so we hope) and Sam Altman is back as CEO, it remains pretty much a mystery why Altman was fired in the first place. But recent reports say the company's employees had written a letter warning the board about an AI breakthrough that they felt could threaten humanity before Altman was removed.
The startup is said to have created a model called Q* that can solve primary school maths problems in the same way that humans can. And some believe that if we extrapolate this progress to solving more complicated problems, it could be a step towards achieving artificial general intelligence, an AI that is as good as - or better than - humans at most tasks.
Are we really that close to creating AGI? And what does Altman's return mean for OpenAI or the AI industry as a whole? Listen to AI consultant Raj Shroff’s take on the issue.
You'll also hear about a recent update from Bard - Google's AI chatbot - which allows it to "watch" and analyse YouTube videos now.
