Fatal mall stabbing puts focus on mental health  Listenfacebook
A government advisor has called for the implementation of a triage system for mental health services in the city. Professor Terry Lum says simply asking staff to do more, without increasing resources and manpower, is not the way to go. He was commenting after two women were stabbed to death in what appeared to be a random attack in a shopping mall. The 39-year-old suspect in the Plaza Hollywood case will appear at Kwun Tong Magistracy on Monday. Ada Au reports:

A psychiatrist says a triage system is already in place in the public sector, to categorise mental health patients according to their severity of their illness. But Dr May Lam, founder and president of the Hong Kong Mental Wellness Association, says cases classified as non-urgent may need to wait a long time for help. She told Samantha Butler that the public health system should be reviewed to ensure there are enough resources to cater for the needs of the mentally ill:

A doctor says the Hospital Authority had a very positive response to its efforts to find medical students and professionals from Australia to come and work in Hong Kong. The Hospital Authority says it gave 45 conditional offers to medical students or practising doctors in Australia, following a two-day recruitment event in Sydney last week that attracted more than 200 participants. Professor Bryan Yan is a doctor with the Chinese University who attended the event. He told Janice Wong about his own experience of studying there and returning to work in Hong Kong:
