An Australian educator says school curriculum and teachers worldwide need to be more attuned to social and emotional well-being, particularly in a post-Covid world. Professor Helen Cahill from the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne is one of the speakers at a forum to be held in Hong Kong that will look at how to equip youngsters with life skills through Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). The forum is organised by the Life Education Activity Programme (LEAP). Professor Cahill told Carol Musgave that research in this new learning has been extensive in countries, including China:

Over 2,000 restaurants to offer July 1 discounts  Listenfacebook
More than 2,000 restaurants and stores across Hong Kong will be offering discounts next Monday, as the city marks the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the SAR. A 29 percent discount will apply to designated menu items. Shops agreeing to take part include convenience stores and fast food chains. Last year, over 1,000 eateries participated. Catering-sector lawmaker, Tommy Cheung, said the operators were not lowering prices just to boost business. He told Frank Yung it was impossible for participating businesses to offer discounts on all items:

Official figures show home prices fell by 1.2 percent in May from April, following two consecutive months of increases. According to the Rating and Valuation Department, prices in May were 12.7 percent lower than the year before. Rents increased by one percent last month from April, reaching a four-and-a-half year high. Martin Wong, the director of real estate consultancy Knight Frank, told Anne Chan that the impact of the scrapping of property cooling measures on home prices had worn off:

Children in the UK are getting shorter, fatter and sicker due to "shocking levels" of poverty and food deprivation, according to a new report. The Food Foundation charity also blamed the "aggressive promotion of cheap junk food" for a perceived deterioration in children's health and well-being.
