Govt to blame for violent clashes over extradition bill: Dennis Kwok Listen
In some of the worst clashes in Hong Kong since the 2014 Occupy protests and the 2016 Mong Kok riots, police on Wednesday fired tear gas and bean bag rounds at demonstrators trying to storm the Legislative Council, after authorities postponed a Legco meeting which would have resumed the extradition amendment bill's second reading. For much of the day, protesters and police fought running street battles near the government's headquarters and Legco. Annemarie Evans asked legal sector lawmaker Dennis Kwok if he thought Wednesday's mayhem was a result of Chief Executive Carrie Lam's inaction after Sunday's huge rally against the proposed bill.
