Newly elected lawmakers are expected to discuss a government motion on support in the aftermath of the deadly Tai Po blaze at their first chamber meeting on Wednesday.
The legislators, who assumed their posts on January 1, will also debate a motion raised by one of their number on improving the management of building maintenance works.
During the council meeting, Chief Executive John Lee will give a speech on government expectations for the new term of Legco, the "positive interaction" between executive authorities and the legislature, as well as matters relating to the disaster relief and follow-up support following the Wang Fuk Court inferno.
The government will move a motion titled "support and rebuilding work after the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po", which focuses on issues such as emergency financial assistance for residents and accommodation arrangements.
The legislature will also handle a motion proposed by lawmaker Mark Chong, urging the administration to reform the building maintenance sector's regime and crack down on bid-rigging, among other things.
But lawmakers will skip a regular question and answer session for officials.
