Hong Kong, China, won bronze in the mixed relay triathlon at the Asian Games on Monday, extending its medal streak in the event to three consecutive editions.

Competing at the Gamagori City Triathlon Venue, the Hong Kong team of Cade Wright, Oscar Coggins, Bailee Brown and Robin Elg clocked one hour, 27 minutes and 25 seconds, finishing just under a minute behind hosts Japan.

China took gold in dominant fashion, with the national team completing the race in one hour, 25 minutes and 54 seconds.

The mixed relay features teams of four – two men and two women – with each athlete completing a full swim as well as bike and run legs before tagging the next teammate.

Wright opened for Hong Kong and handed over to Coggins with the SAR in fifth.

Coggins advanced to fourth on the bike and then moved into third on the run.

Brown held third before slipping to fourth during the cycling leg but recovered to third by the end of the run.

Elg briefly dropped to fourth in the swim but fought back to anchor Hong Kong home in third, securing the bronze.

Hong Kong has now won medals in the mixed relay triathlon at each of the past three Asian Games, adding to bronze medals at Jakarta–Palembang in 2018 and Hangzhou in 2023.
