Chief Executive John Lee says campaigning for next month's district council elections is now in full swing, as he appealed to people - especially government staff - to cast their ballots. Appearing at his regular Tuesday press briefing, the CE also said Hong Kong was capable of handling its own national security trials, and local cases would only be sent across the border under specific circumstances. Hong Kong's top court has quashed a scholar's murder conviction over the deaths of his wife and daughter and ordered a retrial. Khaw Kim-sun, a former Chinese University medical professor, was accused of putting a yoga ball filled with carbon monoxide in the boot of a car eight years ago, with the gas leaking out and killing the pair. Damon Pang reports:

Chinese University researchers say they have discovered that a drug used for chronic inflammatory disorders, such as arthritis, performs better than steroids to treat uveitis - an eye condition that can lead to blindness. Dr Chu Wai-kit from the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences said an estimated 10,000 people in Hong Kong had uveitis. He said steroids were not effective for everyone and could even result in liver toxicity. Dr Chu told Samantha Butler that after more clinical trials both here and overseas, researchers hope the drug could be readily available after 10 years:

Van Gogh, Monet, and Raphael are just some of the world's most celebrated artists who will be showcased at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from Wednesday. As Aaron Tam reports, over 50 of their masterpieces will be shown at the special exhibition co-organised with the National Gallery in London:

This year's charity drive, Operation Santa Claus, is raising money for 16 charities, including the Yama Foundation. Its mission is to make yoga, art, and meditation accessible to Hong Kong’s most-vulnerable communities. The first pictures of 41 construction workers, trapped in a collapsed road tunnel that was being excavated in northern India, have emerged 10 days since the accident.
