Hong Kong's women epee fencers will go for gold for the first time in Asian Games history after a convincing 45-26 semi-final victory against Japan on Wednesday.
The team of Vivian Kong, Kaylin Hsieh, Natalie Chan and Moonie Chu took an early 20-14 lead against the Japanese.
Facing a four-point deficit before the decisive seventh period, Japan tried to mix things up by putting in substitute fencer Haruna Baba, but that worked to Hong Kong's advantage.
Chan won that period 7-0 to make sure the Japanese had to settle for bronze.
The SAR will fence South Korea in the final at around 7:05pm on Wednesday evening, after the Koreans defeated China 30-27 in a tight contest.
Earlier in the day, Hong Kong had defeated Singapore 45-25 for a place in the final four.
