Hong Kong's rising squash star Simmi Chan on Thursday came tantalisingly close to a gold medal in the women's singles in Hangzhou, pushing her opponent to the very end in a thrilling final.
Chan split the first two games with her Malaysian opponent Sivasangari Subramaniam, and fought all the way in the deciding fifth game, going down 12-10 and taking silver.
Culture and sports minister Kevin Yeung said he's very proud of the Hong Kong team's achievement.
"With high-standard performances, the Hong Kong, China Delegation keeps getting ideal results. We all witnessed the hard work of athletes and applaud for them," he said in a statement.
