A series of vibrant community events are energising Hong Kong to build public awareness and excitement for the upcoming National Games, according to organisers.
Dubbed the "2025 National Games Fiesta," the city-wide campaign will run through the end of October at various shopping malls and popular hotspots.
The fiesta offers residents and visitors a chance to engage with the Games through interactive sports experiences, fun games and live community performances.
Another major highlight will be appearances by the event's two mascots, "Xiyangyang" and "Lerongrong," who will meet and interact with the public during designated times.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Raistlin Lau said the community events, which began in early August at five malls, have received strong public support and participation.
"The 19 shopping malls and hotspots hosting the '2025 National Games Fiesta' have provided free venues and assistance, showcasing the collective effort of Hong Kong businesses to promote the 15th National Games and the Special Olympic Games," Lau said.
Lau also noted that ticket sales for the first batch of events are now available, encouraging the public to buy them quickly to show their support for the athletes.
For the first time, Hong Kong is co-hosting the Games alongside Guangdong and Macau.
The 15th National Games will be held in November, followed by the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games in December.
