A Hong Kong para dance duo captured a silver medal on Saturday at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, held at the Ma On Shan Sports Centre.
The event the pair, Susanna So and Lee Pui-yin, excelled in was the Combi Standard Dance 3-Dance event.
Para dance sport is the only mass participation event hosted by the SAR at these Games.
Reflecting on their performance, So said she and Lee tapped into the energising support that came from the home crowd.
"I felt that the atmosphere was very engaging, especially among our Hong Kong team members," So said.
"When we stepped onto the stage, they all put in a lot of effort to encourage us, which boosted our confidence and made us even happier to participate."
Lee, meanwhile, expressed hope that their performance would help promote greater awareness of, and inclusion in, or the sport.
"Ultimately, we want to show we can dance beautifully even while in a wheelchair and that our interactions promote inclusivity. I personally feel that this is very meaningful," he said.
The silver medal adds to their impressive record, as the duo previously won gold in the same event at the 2019 National Games for Persons with Disabilities in Tianjin.
So noted that the greater number of competitors at this year's Games was incredible to see and signalled the growing popularity of para dance sport.
