Four major business chambers said they will jointly roll out measures to encourage their workers to vote in the Legislative Council election next month, including providing half a day of paid leave for employees to fulfil their civic responsibilities.
The Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong Chinese Manufacturers' Association, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce said they would actively play a leading role in the industry to encourage voting on December 7.
They called on all member companies and other businesses to actively respond by adopting flexible work arrangements and compensatory leave as much as possible to facilitate employee voting and demonstrate the responsibility and unity of the business community.
The chambers said Hong Kong is at a crucial juncture of transition from "stability to prosperity," facing multiple challenges while also embracing new historical opportunities and missions brought about by national development.
At this important stage, they said, all sectors of society have a responsibility to elect patriotic and capable candidates who can form a more efficient and higher-level Legco that can work hand in hand with the SAR government to promote Hong Kong's steady progress and create a new future.
