The country's upcoming multi-sport event for para athletes is a stage for them to showcase their perseverance, sports minister Rosanna Law said, as authorities held a flag presentation ceremony on Monday.

Chief Executive John Lee presented the SAR flag to the contingent taking part in next month's National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the National Special Olympic Games.

Hong Kong is sending its largest contingent to date, with more than 280 athletes, to the nationwide games, with the secretary for culture, sports and tourism saying she believes the squad is ready to compete.

"The games is a stage for athletes to show their perseverance, a national event that everyone can personally support and an important opportunity for us to deepen our affection for our country and strengthen our national identity," Law said.

"I wish all athletes participating in the games will enjoy the competition, push themselves and go all out to achieve their dreams."

The games will be co-hosted by Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong from December 8 to 15.

The city will stage five of the events, including boccia, wheelchair fencing and para table tennis.
