Hong Kong cyclists grabbed an Asian Games bronze medal in the women's team pursuit on Wednesday, defeating South Korea for a spot on the podium in Hangzhou.

The team of Lee Sze-wing, Yang Qianyu, Leung Bo-yee and Leung Wing-yee completed the 4000-metre race in 4:28.888 seconds, nearly 1.3 seconds quicker than their opponents.

The SAR athletes fell behind in the middle of the race after starting with the lead.

But they managed to speed their way back to edge the South Koreans to the finish line, for Hong Kong's first track cycling medal in this year's tournament.

The men's pursuit team, meanwhile, missed out on a place on the podium by completing their race in 4:05.507 seconds, nearly seven seconds slower than South Korea.
