Hong Kong cyclist Leung Ka-yu won a silver medal on Thursday in the men's omnium event at the Asian Games – his first individual medal at the regional tournament.
The omnium comprises four events, and Leung had an overall score of 143 points, behind Japan's Kazushige Kuboki, who won gold. Ahmed Almansoori from the United Arab Emirates finished third with a score of 131.
Leung was fourth in the points race, which was the last event, after finishing third in both the scratch and elimination races earlier in the day. He ranked seventh in the tempo event.
The Hong Kong rider, 27, said after the race that he had thought about retiring last year as he suspended training for three months, but changed his mind and gave it all he could in Hangzhou.
"In my heart, I put a lot of pressure on myself. I didn't let myself down with this silver medal – lived up to my expectations," he told HOY TV as he held back his tears.
"I prepared a few years for this Asian Games, it's for this very moment."
