The head of the National Games Coordination Office, Yeung Tak-keung, speaks to Ben Tse
The head of the National Games Coordination Office, Yeung Tak-keung, said the bowling competition that wrapped up at Kai Tak Sports Park on Sunday was a success.

The three-day event was the only mass participation event that Hong Kong will host at this year's National Games.

Speaking on RTHK's Hong Kong Today programme, Yeung said everything went smoothly and that the team gained valuable experience from the event.

"This time, we are not only testing the competition venue alone, we also tested the other parts of the organisation work including the reception for athletes and technical officials from the mainland, the transportation and accommodation and the anti-doping arrangements and security, and etc," he said.

"It is a very good chance for us to test our preparatory work for the competition events in November.

"As the event over the past few days was very smooth, we are very confident that we can do it well in the coming November and December for the National Games."

Yeung also said some mainland athletes were very impressed by the venue in Kai Tak.

"Some of them even said it was the best venue they have ever played in. Some said it's the best venue in the whole of China.

"Overall, the facilities were very good and served the event very well. So we are very confident that Kai Tak Sports Park will continue to play a very important part in the National Games."
