The SAR delivered an impressive performance at the mass participation para dance sport competition securing three gold and three silver medals at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games.

The event, for which Hong Kong is the sole host this year, saw over 90 athletes from 13 teams across the mainland and Hong Kong gather at the Ma On Shan Sports Centre.

Over the two-day competition that concluded on Sunday, the pair of Matthew Yu and Pandora Choi led the charge, capturing gold medals in both the Combi Latin Dance 3-Dance and Combi Latin Dance 5-Dance events.

Adding to the medal haul, the pair of Susanna So and Angus Lee earned silver medals in the Combi Standard Dance 3-Dance, Combi Standard Dance 5-Dance and Combi Latin Dance 5-Dance.

The team's success was capped off with a gold medal in the Group Dance category.

The competition was praised for its high level of organisation, according to Yeung Tak-keung, Head of the National Games Coordination Office in Hong Kong, adding that technical officials and athletes provided positive feedback on the venue facilities, competition procedures and hospitality arrangements.

This event follows the recently concluded bowling mass participation event for the National Games.

The next competition to be hosted in Hong Kong will be beach volleyball, scheduled for October 31 at Victoria Park.
