Hong Kong men's lightweight single sculls rower Chiu Hin-chun on Thursday made it to the final at the National Games with the third-fastest qualifying time.
The two-time Olympian finished the course in Guangzhou in 5 minutes and 5.6 seconds, just under two seconds slower than the fastest rower from Anhui province.
Another Olympian from the SAR, Winnie Hung, managed to squeeze into the final by finishing sixth in the women's event, with a time of 5:44.29.
Both finals will take place on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong women's quadruple-sculls team of Wong Lok-yiu, Yeung Chi-kiu, Chui Nga-man and Liu Jie, made it to the semifinals – to be held on Saturday – with the slowest qualifying time among the 12 entries.
