Hong Kong swimming star Siobhan Haughey is poised for another golden performance at the National Games, cruising to victory in the women’s 100-metre freestyle semifinal on Friday.

The Olympic silver and bronze medallist clocked a time of 53.46 seconds, a slight improvement on her morning heat, to secure her lane for Saturday's final.

As the Asian record holder for this event, Haughey expressed confidence but acknowledged there's more to give.

"I feel that my condition is okay, and I know I'm not at my peak. So far, my results have been good, and I think my recovery after the past two days of competition has been fine. For now, I can still continue competing," she said.

Her strong semifinal performance comes just one day after she made history by winning the women’s 200-metre freestyle, claiming Hong Kong's first-ever swimming gold medal at the Games.

The final, set for Saturday at 7pm in Shenzhen, offers Haughey a chance to secure a remarkable double.

Unfortunately, two of her teammates did not advance, with Li Sum-yiu and Gilaine Ma placing 10th and 13th.

On the men's side, 19-year-old Adam Mak punched his way into the final of the 200-metre breaststroke, finishing fourth overall with a time of two minutes and 12.91 seconds.

Despite securing his spot, Mak is keeping his focus forward.

"I am not completely satisfied yet because we are not at the final. I need to focus on my swim in the final," he said.

"This is my first time competing at the National Games. I hope to enjoy the competition."

His teammate, Adam Chillingworth, was disqualified from the event.

The final is set for Saturday at 7.42 pm.
