The closing ceremony of the National Games was held in Shenzhen on Friday night, with the chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Wang Huning, declaring the game's closure.
Table tennis star Doo Hoi-kem was the flag bearer for Hong Kong, which finished with a historic best nine gold, two silver, and eight bronze medals.
Cyclist Ceci Lee, who grabbed three of her four golds this year to become the most decorated SAR athlete at the Games to date, was among athletes who kicked off the ceremony, which was held with the Shenzhen Bay waterfront as the backdrop.
Chief Executive John Lee, who attended the ceremony, said the three tournament hosts – Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau – lived up to expectations, while the perseverance of competing athletes won over everyone's admiration.
"While the 15th National Games was drawing to a close, sportsmanship never ends. Let us all turn the fighting spirit at the games into motivation for progress in our country's building of a sports powerhouse," he said.
Guangdong governor Meng Fanli, meanwhile, said it was the first time the three places hosted a mega sporting event together, and that they managed to do so in a safe, simple and spectacular manner.
Hunan will host the next Games in 2029.
