Hong Kong’s para swimmers broke another national record at the National Games for Persons with Disabilities on Wednesday evening, adding three more medals to their haul.
Chan Yui-lam stormed to gold in the women’s 200-metre individual medley SM14, clocking a new national record of 2 minutes 29.26 seconds, five seconds clear of teammate Cheung Ho-ying.
Hubei’s Fang Zheng took bronze, while another SAR representative Lau Chiu-yee finished fourth.
The victory added to Chan’s two silvers earlier at the Games.
She said she gave her absolute best and felt more calm after competing in her earlier events.
As for her remaining events, Chan said she would continue to try her best.
Meanwhile, the SAR team secured another medal when Choi Chi-keung grabbed bronze in the men’s 100 metres breaststroke SB14.
Teammates Tang Wai-lok and Mak Wang-pok came fourth and fifth, respectively.
It has been an outstanding campaign for Hong Kong’s para swimmers, who have so far won nine medals and broken three national records at the Games.
