Hong Kong claimed a bronze medal on home soil on the final day of wheelchair fencing competitions on Sunday in the women’s sabre team event at the National Games for Persons with Disabilities.
The quartet of Lam Ka-man, Tong Nga-ting, Alison Yu and Irene Chung defeated Jiangsu 45-33 in a decisive podium finish.
The SAR team showcased exceptional consistency, sweeping all nine bouts in the match at Ma On Shan Sports Centre.
Each Hong Kong fencer reached the target score of five points in their individual rounds.
Though Jiangsu kept the score close throughout the first four bouts, the home team steadily pulled away, ultimately securing a commanding 12-point victory.
The win marks a triumphant bronze medal performance for the Hong Kong squad, earning their place on the podium in front of local fans.
The Hong Kong wheelchair fencing team end this year's Games with three medals.
